A new bantamweight bout has been confirmed for UFC 252 as John Dodson will fight Merab Dvalishvili at the pay-per-view.
Dodson is coming off a much needed win over Nathaniel Wood that snapped a two-fight losing streak. The MMA veteran has only won two bouts in his last five fights, also dropping Pedro Munhoz at UFC 222. Overall, Dodson still has a solid record as the bantamweight currently has 21 wins and 11 losses.
Dvalishvili’s win over Gustavo Lopez at UFC on ESPN 10 extended his winning streak to four fights as the bantamweight has also beaten Terrion Ware (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 136), Brad Katona (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 151) and Casey Kenney (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 167). Dvalishvili’s professional record currently stands at 11 wins and 4 losses.
UFC 252 takes place on Saturday, August 15 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Stipe Miocic vs. Daniel Cormier for the UFC Heavyweight title set as the main event. The placement of the bantamweight bout is currently unknown.
