Johnny Walker shattered Zhang Mingyang’s winning streak with ease.
The light heavyweight bout wasn’t anything to write home about in the first round, but Walker turned up the heat in the second. A pair of leg kicks from Walker was the beginning of the end; Mingyang’s leg buckled after taking too many kicks and Walker swooped in for the kill.
The 33-year-old used ground and pound relentlessly and the referee had no choice but to call it off after giving Mingyang plenty of chances to respond. This ends a two year drought for Walker and gives Mingyang his first UFC loss and breaks an impressive 12-fight winning streak.
The co-main event was a similar story as Aljamain Sterling used leg kicks to weaken Brian Ortega. For the most part, the former UFC Bantamweight Champion had control of this fight until the fifth round. Ortega came close to knocking Sterling down, but Sterling was able to get him on the ground and beat the poor guy until the bell rang. Sterling rebounded from his loss to Movsar Evloev at UFC 310 whereas Ortega extended his losing streak to two.
