At UFC 248, many were unimpressed with the main event between Yoel Romero and Israel Adesanya, including UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.
It’s no secret that Adesanya and Jones are not exactly friends, with both men previously trading nsults on social media numerous times. The UFC Middleweight Champ has stated that he wants to fight Jones at some point in the future (South China Morning Post):
“What did he say? I saw it on Instagram, that ‘by the time he goes to heavyweight whatever’ … I’ve never given a [expletive] about weight. I’ve been a heavyweight in boxing and kick-boxing, and I’ll do it again in MMA,” Adesanya told Submission Radio. “He’s trying to run to heavyweight but I’ll chase him down if I have to. Let him go to heavyweight. I’m working at middleweight. He can [jump] the line but I’m sure he can’t do that because his frame won’t let him do that. So let me do my work. Shut the [expletive] up and I’ll see you when it’s time.”
However, the 32-year-old hasn’t been too interested in the big match-up, especially after Adesanya’s performance at UFC 248:
As of this writing, Adesanya has yet to respond to the comment. Neither Jones or Adesanya have any set opponents; however, based off the Light Heavyweight champ’s comments, a superfight between the two probably won’t happen anytime soon.
