UFC has uploaded the debut of controversial fighter Jon Jones.
Despite the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion's problems outside of the octagon, no one can deny the New York native’s talents inside it. Given the noise Jones was making outside of the UFC, it wasn’t a surprise that the top promotion signed the then USKBA Light Heavyweight Champion.
Jones would end up dominating André Gusmão at UFC 87 and continued to climb the ranks of the light heavyweight division by besting Brandon Vera (UFC on Versus 1), Vladimir Matyushenko (UFC on Versus 2), and Ryan Bader (UFC 126), before winning the 205-pound belt from Maurício Rua at UFC 128.
Legal troubles would cause Jones to be stripped of the title; however, the 32-year-old was able to defend light heavyweight title successfully eight times. Jones would make his return to the octagon in 2018 and defeated rival Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 232. Since then, Jones has remained on top of the division, and despite having one blemish on his overall professional record, which is a disqualification loss to Matt Hamill back in 2009, the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion is pound-for-pound the best athlete in the stacked 205-pound division.
Before Jon Jones’ reign as the top UFC light heavyweight champion, check out his debut against André Gusmão at UFC 87 in Minneapolis.
