This past week, UFC Light Heavyweight contender Dominick Reyes spoke to MMA Junkie and revealed that Jon Jones wasn’t interested in a rematch for the 205-pound belt, stating that the champ was afraid to get into another dog fight against him:
“I know the UFC is on board,” Reyes told MMA Junkie. “I know I’m on board. The issue is Jon right now. He’s going to say he’s down online, obviously on Twitter. When he gets those contracts in front of him, he’s a little different. That’s where we’re at.”
Not surprisingly, Jones didn’t take too kindly to Reyes’ statement, and the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion does appear ready to move on a new opponent:
Jones seemingly called out Jan Blachowicz, who is ranked number four in the Light Heavyweight division; however, Jones has defeated Anthony Smith (UFC 235), Thiago Santos (UFC 239), and of course, Dominick Reyes back at UFC 247.
Given that the 32-year-old has the ability to chose his next fight, I think it’s clear that he’s looking to move past his bout against Reyes. Of course, anything can change as Jones does not have a set opponent for the Light heavyweight title yet.
