The amazing 38-second knockout Journey Newson scored at UFC 247 has been overturned.
On Feb. 8, the bantamweight made UFC fans take notice by scoring a quick win over Domingo Pilarte; however, the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration has over-turned the results to a no decision.
At this time, the reasoning for the change in result is unclear; however, the document from ESPN reports that Newson’s manager, Jason House, says that his client tested positive for marijuana. The Oregon native’s impressive win at the pay-per-view was a much-needed booster after Newson lost his debut fight against Ricardo Ramos at UFC Fight Night Minneapolis.
Prior to his first fight within the UFC, Newson came into the promotion hot with a strong six-fight winning streak. Thus far, Newson has yet to comment on the situation. With the results overturned, the bantamweight’s record goes to 9 wins, 2 losses, and 1 no contest.
