UFC Minneapolis has a new main event, which will see Junior Dos Santos face off against Francis Ngannou in a heavyweight bout on June 29th. The original main event was set to be Tyron Woodley vs. Robbie Lawler, but the bout was ultimately scrapped due to the former UFC Welterweight champion suffering a hand injury. It appears that Lawler won’t be receiving a replacement for the fight night event.
Dos Santos is currently on a nice three-fight winning streak, as the former UFC Heavyweight champion has beaten Blagoy Ivanov, Tai Tuivasa, and Derrick Lewis. The Brazil native remains one of the top heavyweight fighters in the promotion, as his current standing is listed as #3. Dos Santos' current professional MMA record is 21 wins and 5 losses.
Ngannou is also entering the match-up with some nice momentum as the former heavyweight title contender is on a two-fight win streak, having defeated Curtis Blaydes and Cain Velasquez via knockout. Ngannou currently has a record of 13 wins and 3 losses. UFC Fight Night Minneapolis takes place on June 29th and will air on ESPN.
