A new heavyweight bout has been confirmed for the UFC Fight Night show on Jan. 16 as Justin Tafa will step into the octagon against Carlos Felipe at the upcoming event.
While Tafa failed to get a win in his debut against Yorgan De Castro at UFC 243, the heavyweight bounced back thanks to his impressive TKO victory over Juan Adams at UFC 247. Tafa’s loss to Castro remains the only blemish on his professional record as the 26-year-old's stats are currently 4 wins and 1 loss.
Felipe is coming off his first UFC win against Yorgan De Castro at UFC on ESPN 16. The Heavyweight was in the midst of a strong eight-fight winning streak before his UFC debut, with Felipe getting wins during his time in Shooto Brazil, Full House, and Fight On MMA. The 25-year-old managed to get impressive victories over top names such as Paulo Cesar Almeida (via TKO at Fight On MMA - Fight On 4) and Fernando Batista (via TKO at Full House - Battle Home 9). Felipe’s professional record currently stands at 9 wins and 1 loss.
The heavyweight match-up joins Brian Kelleher vs. Ricky Simon on the UFC card. Thus far, the placement of Felipe/Tafa is currently unknown.
