After months of speculation and promise from UFC President Dana White, the welterweight championship match between Kamaru Usman and former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Colby Covington is finally set for November 2.
Usman will be defending his belt for the first time since he decisively defeated Tyron Woodley at UFC 235. The UFC Welterweight Champion has not lost a match since 2013, and remains undefeated in the promotion thus far. Usman’s professional mixed martial arts record currently stands at 15 wins and 1 loss.
Covington is coming into the bout with a nice win streak himself, as the former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion is currently on a seven-fight winning streak with victories over the likes of Rafael Dos Anjos, Robbie Lawler, and Demian Maia. The California native's professional mma record stands at 15 wins and 1 loss.
UFC 244 takes place on Saturday, November 2 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with no main event announced at this time.
