Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and Al Iaquinta, two of UFC's top lightweights, have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to fight as the main event of UFC Fight Night: Ottawa. The matchup was first reported by ESPN and confirmed with sources of MMA Fighting's Marc Raimondi.

The matchup puts to rest any speculation of Donald Cerrone fighting former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor any time soon. White had previously alluded to Cerrone-Iaquinta fight earlier this month when he revealed a fight between Cowboy and The Notorious was nowhere close to happening.

Cerrone (35-11-1) is coming off two straight wins, his most recent being at UFC Fight Night 143 (Brooklyn). His impressive second round TKO win against Alexander Hernandez caught the attention of many, including Conor McGregor.

Iaquinta (14-4-1), meanwhile most recently defeated Kevin Lee by unanimous decision in December. He has won six of his past seven fights.

UFC Fight Night: Ottawa will take place on May 4.
