UFC Belem is building up to be a stacked card with Valentina Shevchenko vs. Priscila Cachoeira, Thiago Santos vs. Anthony Smith, Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Joseph Morales, Tim Johnson vs. Marcelo Golm, and Maia Stevenson vs. Polyana Viana as the undercard matches.
However, a big main event has been added as Eryk Anders will fight Lyoto Machida in a five round main event On February 3.
Anders asked for his fight against Machida, in which he enters the octagon with a current 10-0 record with recent dominate wins over Brazilian middleweights Rael Natal and Markus Perez. Machida, who’s 22-8, is looking for redemption despite being a former light heavyweight champion in the UFC. “The Dragon” has lost his last three fights in the octagon.
“
He has a very similar style to Markus’,” Anders told MMA junkie. “(He’s) probably a little bit more precise with the strikes. Obviously, much more experienced. A former titleholder. I love the hostile environment. There’s no more hostile place on Earth, I feel like, than in the cage, in a ring, with a Brazilian in Brazil.”
The event will take place in Belem, Brazil and is certainly a loaded card on paper!
