UFC 320 is this weekend.
That means the hatred between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev is ramping up. Last week, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion said Ankalaev alleged that Ankalaev was hiding from him at the UFC Performance Institute.
“Something funny happened when we left the P.I.,” Pereira said on his YouTube channel. “I saw Ankalaev’s coach. He was there, and I was looking at him. You could tell he was looking at us, trying to say hi, but I didn’t want to talk too much. But I didn’t see Ankalaev. It was funny. When we left the P.I., I left and went to the car. When I got to the car, a guy from my team was still there, and he saw a P.I. staff, and she was saying, ‘Ankalaev, you can come. He already left.’
“He was hiding from me. He thinks I’m going to meet him, and I’m going to fight him. I’m not an idiot. We’re getting ready for a fight. I’m a professional. But to think about it and hide in a room, and the girl said, ‘You can come, he already left.’ What the f*ck?”
Now the Light Heavyweight champ did respond and was frustrated with the trash talk coming from Pereira.
Then they confronted one another and they had an interesting exchange.
“We’ll fight on Oct. 4 and we don’t have to exchange words anymore,” Ankalaev said, according to the man.
“I’ve never said anything, he’s always talked,” Pereira responded in Portuguese. “I’ve never said anything, he’s always talked. And now that we’re close, face to face, he’s an asshole.”
Ankalaev further explained why he confronted Pereira and promised to put his lights out at the upcoming pay-per-view.
Despite all of the trash talk going into the UFC 320 fight, it should be good nevertheless. It’s hard to believe that Ankalaev was hiding from Pereira since he voluntarily gave him the rematch, but we weren’t there so it’s unknown if that’s what actually went down.
