A women’s flyweight contest has been confirmed for this Saturday at UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker as Mara Romero Borella will take on Miranda Maverick.
Borella is in need of a win as the flyweight is currently in the midst of a three-fight losing streak, dropping bouts to Lauren Murphy (via TKO at UFC on ESPN 5), Montana De La Rosa (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 167) and Cortney Casey (via submission at UFC on ESPN 8). Borella has only one win in her last five fights, beating Taila Santos at UFC Fight Night 144. Her professional record currently stands at 12 wins, 8 losses, and 2 no contests.
Maverick will be making her UFC debut here with the flyweight coming in with a solid three-fight winning streak, beating Heather Walker-Leahy, DeAnna Bennett, and Pearl Gonzalez during her time in Invicta FC and Shogun Fights. The 22-year-old hasn’t lost a fight in over a year and Maverick’s professional record currently stands at 7 wins and 2 losses.
UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker takes place on Saturday, June 27 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with the two lightweights headlining. The placement of the flyweight bout has yet to be determined. Check out the updated line-up below:
