A middleweight bout has been confirmed for the upcoming fight night event on August 1 as Markus Perez will take on Eric Spicely.
Perez is looking to bounce back after losing to Wellington Turman at UFC Fight Night 164. The middleweight’s record in his last five fights is a mixed bag, with Perez only scoring wins over Anthony Hernandez (via technical submission at UFC Fight Night 144) and James Bochnovic (via submission at UFC 224). Perez’s additional losses to Eryk Anders and Andrew Sanchez have kept him out of the top 15 rankings. His professional record currently stands at 12 wins and 3 losses.
Spicely failed to win his re-debut against Deron Winn at UFC Fight Night 154. His previous stint with the company saw the middleweight beat top tier names such as Thiago Santos (via submission at UFC Fight Night 95) and Alessio Di Chirico (via submission at UFC on Fox 23). Before Spicely made his return to the UFC last year, he fought for Classic Entertainment and Sports, and managed to get back-to-back wins over Leo Pla and Caio Magalhaes. Spicely’s professional record stands at 12 wins and 5 losses.
The yet to be announced UFC card takes place on Saturday, August 1 with a location and main event set to be confirmed very soon.
