A welterweight bout has been rescheduled for UFC Fight Night: Harris vs. Overeem as Matt Brown will take on Miguel Baeza on Saturday, May 16 at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla. The card will air on ESPN/ESPN+. Originally, the welterweights were set to clash at UFC Fight Night Columbus; however, the show was cancelled due to the coronavirus.
Brown will be making his return after a strong comeback against Ben Saunders at UFC 245. Prior to that fight, the welterweight took a two-year hiatus following his knockout victory over Diego Sanchez at UFC Fight Night 120.
The Ultimate Fighter alumni is slowly regaining his momentum after being in the worst streak of his career before his win over Sanchez, with the 36-year-old suffering devastating losses to Donald Cerrone (via knockout at UFC 206), Jake Ellenberger (via TKO at UFC 201), and Demian Maia (via submission at UFC 198). His professional record currently stands at 22 wins and 16 losses.
Baeza is riding an eight-fight winning streak, with his latest victory coming over Hector Aldana via TKO at UFC Fight Night 161. Prior to joining the UFC last year, the 27-year-old competed under Xtreme Fighting Nation, Fight Time Promotions, and Titan Fighting Championship. Baeza’s professional record stands at 8 wins and no losses.
