UFC President Dana White confirmed on Saturday night that Max Holloway will defend the Featherweight belt against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 245.
Holloway is coming off a successful championship bout against Frankie Edgar back at UFC 240, where he defeated the featherweight via unanimous decision. Despite his impressive 13-fight win streak being broken thanks to his bout against Dustin Poirier at UFC 236 for the interim UFC Lightweight Championship, the Hawaii native has yet to lose a featherweight bout in nearly six years. Holloway’s professional mma record stands at 21 wins and 4 losses.
Volkanovski comes into the bout with incredible momentum himself, as the featherweight remains undefeated in the UFC thus far. The Australia native is coming off a huge win over former Featherweight Champion, Jose Aldo. Volkanovski hasn’t lost a fight in nearly six years as well. The featherweight fighter currently boasts a record of 20 wins and 1 loss.
The fight joins Amanda Nunes defending her UFC Bantamweight Championship against former UFC Featherweight Champion Germaine de Randamie. UFC 245 takes place on December 14 from the T-Mobile Arena from Las Vegas, Nevada.
