Bellator MMA fighter Chael Sonnen sat down with Brandan Schaub for Below the Belt on SHOWTIME, and made some claims about his interactions with WWE over the years.
Sonnen claims that someone from WWE – who he opted to not mention by name – once offered him $1 million to “no-call, no-show” his fight against Anderson Silva for the UFC Middleweight Championship. The two have fought twice for the same title, so the alleged conversation either took place in August 2010 prior to UFC 117 or in July 2012 prior to UFC 148.
Furthermore, Sonnen claims the same WWE source also offered him a secondary deal to the north of $5 million to show up on Monday Night Raw with the UFC Championship if he took the fight with Silva and won. As a part of the offer, he was not allowed to inform Dana White or warn the company in any way. Sonnen says that he never informed White about the conversation with WWE, and that it’s the only direct communication he’s had with them.
