A new women’s bantamweight bout has been confirmed for UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Oleinik as Nicco Montano will fight Julia Avila once again.
Montano is looking to regain some momentum after failing to beat Julianna Peña at UFC Fight Night 155. A winner of The Ultimate Fighter: A New World Champion, the bantamweight has managed to win three out of her last five fights, beating Roxanne Modafferi (via unanimous decision at The Ultimate Fighter 26 finale), Jamie Milanowski (via TKO at KOTC: Social Disorder), and Shana Dobson (via unanimous decision at KOTC: Will Power). Her two losses also came against Julia Availa prior to her UFC debut. Montano’s professional record currently stands at 4 wins and 3 losses.
Avila is coming off a victory over Gina Mazany that now sees the bantamweight on a four-fight winning streak, also beating Ashley Deen (via KO at HD MMA 13), Alexa Conners (via TKO at Invicta FC 32), and Pannie Kianzad (via unanimous decision at UFC 239). Prior to her debut at UFC 239, the California native competed in HD MMA and Invicta Fighting Championships. Avila’s professional record currently stands at 8 wins and 1 loss.
UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Oleinik takes place on Saturday, August 8 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with the heavyweights headlining.
