After being in the light heavyweight division for the past seven years, Ovince Saint Preux will make his debut in the heavyweight division against Ben Rothwell on UFC’s May 13 event at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
Since entering the UFC back in 2013, Preux has beaten big name light heavyweights such as Maurício Rua (UFC Fight Night 56), Patrick Cummins (UFC on Fox 15), and Corey Anderson (UFC 217), and managed to garner a solid 12 wins within the 205-pound division.
The Florida native is coming off a second-round victory over Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC on ESPN+ 18 in September. Preux has suffered more losses than wins in his last five fights, with his only other victory being against Tyson Pedro at UFC Fight Night 132. Preux’s professional record currently stands at 24 wins and 13 losses.
Rothwell is coming off a second-round knockout victory against Stefan Struve at UFC on ESPN 7. Prior to his recent victory, the 38-year-old was in the midst of a three-fight losing streak due to losses against Junior dos Santos (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 86), Blagoy Ivanov (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 146), and Andrei Arlovski (via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 4). Despite Rothwell’s recent setback, his professional record is a solid 37 wins and 12 losses.
