Ovince Saint Preux will finally take on Shamil Gamzatov on August 22. The bout between the two heavyweights was originally scheduled for April 25; however, the fight night show was eventually scrapped due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The veteran MMA fighter is coming off a heavyweight loss against Ben Rothwell at UFC Fight Night 171. Preux will be making his return to the light heavyweight division since his second-round victory over Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC on ESPN+ 18 in September. Preux has suffered more losses than wins in his last five fights, with his only other victory being against Tyson Pedro at UFC Fight Night 132. Preux’s professional record currently stands at 24 wins and 14 losses.
Gamzatov enters the bout after a successful debut against Klidson Abreu at UFC Fight Night 163. Prior to his transition over to the biggest MMA company in North America, the heavyweight competed in Profesional Fighters League, World of Series Fighting, and Absolute Championship Berkut. Gamzatov has yet to be defeated, with eleven of his fights ending via submission or TKO. His professional record currently stands at 14 wins and 0 losses.
The UFC Fight Night card on Aug. 22 will take place at the APEX facility in Las Vegas with a main event still to be determined.
