A new bantamweight match-up has been confirmed for the UFC Fight Night event on Sept. 26 as Randy Costa will face Journey Newson.
Costa is coming off an impressive TKO win over Boston Salmon at UFC on ESPN 6. Despite failing to get a victory in his UFC debut, the bantamweight has managed to win four out of his last five fights, with the remaining victories coming from his time in Cage Titans Fighting Championship. Overall, Costa has a professional record of 5 wins and 1 loss.
Newson’s devastating knockout win over Domingo Pilarte at UFC 247 was overturned due to the bantamweight failing his drug test because levels of marijuana were found in his system. The overturn has made the UFC newcomer winless in the promotion thus far as Newson was beaten by Ricardo Ramos at UFC on ESPN 3. Still, the fighter came into the promotion on a strong six-fight winning streak, with his overall professional record standing at 9 wins, 2 losses, and 1 no contest.
