A new flyweight bout is set for the upcoming UFC 251 pay-per-view as Raulian Paiva will take on Zhalgas Zhumagulov.
Another fighter who made his way into the UFC thanks to Dana White’s Contender Series, Paiva has just one win in the company thus far. The lightweight beat Mark De La Rosa at UFC Fight Night 167; however, his losses to Kai Kara-France (via split decision at UFC 234) and Rogério Bontorin (via TKO at UFC Fight Night 156) has pushed him back in the rankings. Paiva’s professional record currently stands at 19 wins and 3 losses.
Zhumagulov will be making his UFC debut with a four-fight winning streak coming in. Mainly a competitor in Fight Nights Global, his wins come over Shaj Haque (via unanimous decision at Fight Nights Global 80), Tyson Nam (via unanimous decision at Fight Nights Global 86), Tagir Ulanbekov (majority decision at Fight Nights Global 88), and Ali Bagautinov (via split decision at Fight Nights Global 95). Zhumagulov’s professional record currently stands at 13 wins and 3 losses.
UFC 251 takes place on Saturday, July 11 from Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi with Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns headlining. The placement of the flyweight bout is currently unknown.
