A new bantamweight bout is confirmed for the fight night event on August 1 as Ray Borg will take on Nathan Maness at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. MMA Junkie was the first to report the news, though the match-up has yet to be made official.
Borg’s momentum was halted at UFC Fight Night 171 when Ricky Simon defeated the bantamweight fighter. Prior to the loss, Borg was in the midst of a two-fight winning streak, beating Gabriel Silva (via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 4) and Rogerio Bontorin (via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 167). Borg has only won two out of his last five fights, and his professional record currently stands at 13 wins and 5 losses.
Maness will be making his UFC debut here as the bantamweight has made a name for himself in Hardrock MMA, TKO Major League MMA, and Warrior Fighting Championship. While the UFC newcomer suffered a KO loss to former UFC bantamweight Taylor Lapilus back In May 2019, the 29-year-old comes into the promotion hot with only one loss on his overall record. Maness’ professional record stands at 11 wins and 1 loss.
