Jose Aldo showcases why many consider him as one of the best fighters in the world.
Before Jose Aldo fights Petr Yan for the vacant UFC Bantamweight title at UFC 251 this weekend, revisit his dominant performance over Renato Moicano at UFC Fight Night 144.
Aldo was coming off his UFC Featherweight title loss against Max Holloway at UFC 212 and 218, and the Brazilian looked great in his bout against Jeremy Stephens at UFC on Fox 30; however, many underestimated Aldo’s skills against Moicano going in. Aldo had a record of 27 wins and 4 losses.
Moicano was rising through the ranks of the featherweight division and managed to get impressive wins over Jeremy Stephens (via split decision at UFC on Fox 24), Calvin Kattar (via unanimous decision at UFC 223), and Cub Swanson (via submission at UFC 227). His only setback was against Brian Ortega at UFC 214. Going in, Moicano’s record was 13 wins, 1 loss, and 1 no contest.
