UFC 249 has been a roller coaster ride thus far.
First, the pay-per-view has been cancelled at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, then the Lightweight title fight between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov is scrapped for the fifth time, and while the UFC Interim Lightweight champion will fight Justin Gaethje for the belt on April 18th, the location still remains unknown.
Still, Ferguson appears to be entering the octagon again in two weeks and the UFC uploaded a classic fight between him and Anthony Pettis at UFC 229. The 36-year-old was coming off a huge victory over Kevin Lee at UFC 216, which resulted in Ferguson winning the UFC Interim Lightweight title, and the California native was looking to continue his hot streak within the 155-pound division.
Coming into the fight, Pettis was hoping to continue building up momentum following his submission victory over Michael Chiesa at UFC 226. After the 33-year-old lost his Lightweight title to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 185, Pettis hasn't been able to regain the momentum that got him the championship at UFC 164.
For Ferguson, the fight was more than about retaining his title, it was also about maintaining his dominance in the lightweight division.
