Sarah Alpar will replace Duda Santana to take on Vanessa Melo at UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City on May 2. No reason was given on why Santana pulled out of the bout.
Alpar will be making her UFC debut at the Chesapeake Energy Arena, with the fighter coming fresh off of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3, defeating Shanna Young by submission. The bantamweight is currently in the midst of a three-fight winning streak, besting Joselyne Edwards Laboriel and Pamela Boveda Aguirre as well.
Prior to the UFC, the 28-year-old competed in Legacy Fighting Alliance, Titan Fighting Championship, and Xtreme Fighting League. Alpar’s professional record currently stands at 9 wins and 4 losses.
Melo is hoping to get some momentum at the fight night event as the bantamweight is coming off back-to-back losses against Tracy Cortez and Irene Aldana. Thus far, the Brazil native is winless under the UFC banner, with her last victory taking place on July 2019 in Battlefield Fighting Championship. Melo’s record currently stands at 10 wins and 7 losses.
UFC Fight Night Oklahoma takes place on Saturday, May 2 from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with no main event announced at this time.
