Sean Brady Dominates Former UFC Welterweight Champion Leon Edwards At UFC LONDON

The former UFC Welterweight Champion was hoping to get back into title contention with a win over Sean Brady, but Leon Edwards was surprisingly shut down in London this past Saturday.

The former UFC Welterweight Champion isn’t getting a title shot any time soon.

Originally, Leon Edwards was supposed to fight Jack Della Maddalena this past weekend in London, but he was pulled from the card and replaced by Sean Brady.

Now Brady has been making waves in the welterweight division as of late as he’s beaten Kelvin Gastelum and Gilbert Burns in his last two fights. However, this was his biggest test and Brady made Edwards look like an amateur throughout the four rounds.

What put an end to Leon’s misery was a failed takedown attempt that allowed Brady to take control and finish Edwards off with a guillotine choke. Brady has now won three consecutive fights and currently stands at 18 wins and 1 loss. Interestingly enough, that one loss comes from the current champ himself, Belal Muhammad.

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz didn’t fare much better in the co-main event. While Blachowicz wasn’t dominated like Edwards, he failed to get any momentum going to result in a win. This was also a huge test for Carlos Ulberg as he came into the bout on a seven-fight winning streak. He did enough damage to Blachowicz to get the unanimous decision victory.

In other news, Molly McCann retired following her loss to Alexia Thainara. The strawweight admitted that retirement was on her mind throughout training camp, and Molly felt that she was no longer good enough to wear the gloves due to her lackluster performance.

Molly started fighting professionally in 2015, but made her way into the UFC in 2018. Though she’s never gotten to the level of challenging for the strawweight belt, Molly has had several memorable fights including against Kim Ji-yeon. She ends her professional career with 14 wins and 8 losses.
