A new featherweight bout is set for the UFC Fight Night show on June 20th as Josh Emmett will take Shane Burgos.
Emmett is currently in the midst of a two-fight winning streak as the featherweight has beaten Michael Johnson (via KO at UFC on ESPN 2) and Mirsad Bektic (via TKO at UFC Fight Night 155). His loss to Jeremy Stephens at UFC on Fox 28 has sent him back in the rankings a bit; however, if Emmett manages to get a victory over Burgos then he’ll be one step closer to a featherweight title shot. His professional record currently stands at 15 wins and 2 losses.
Burgos is also riding a nice wave of momentum as the featherweight is currently in the midst of a three-fight winning streak, besting Kurt Holobaugh (via submission at UFC 230), Cub Swanson (via split decision at UFC Fight Night 151) and Makwan Amirkhani (via TKO at UFC 244). At the moment, Burgos is ranked at #10 in the 145-pound division; however, if Burgos manages to beat Emmett (who’s currently ranked at #8) then his spot will surely climb higher. Burgos’ professional record currently stands at 13 wins and 1 loss.
The yet to be announced UFC card takes place on Saturday, June 20 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time.
