Stephen Thompson Picks Apart Vicente Luque To Earn Unanimous Decision Win At UFC 244

At 36-years-old, Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson still hops around the Octagon like a spry young fighter. After suffering a stunning knockout to Anthony Pettis back in March, Thompson returned to the win column with an impressive performance over Vicente Luque.

For three rounds, Thompson picked apart his opponent. While Luque caught Thompson a few times, it was Wonderboy who landed the more meaningful shots. Thompson landed a spinning back kick in the second that caught Luque off balance and sent him tumbling backwards, but the Brazilian was able to get to his feet quickly. A fatigued and bloodied Luque was dropped to the mat again in the third round, but again was able to get to his feet.

The crowd was anxious for a finish from Wonderboy, but Luque managed to take everything Thompson threw at him. In the end, Stephen Thompson came away with the unanimous decision win (30-26, 30-26, 29-27).

It was an impressive win for Thompson, but he still faces some stiff competition ahead of him in the welterweight division.
