Justin Tafa is off the UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Till card.
Originally, Tafa was set to take on Raphael Pessoa on July 25; however, the heavyweight has been pulled from the event, according to MMA Junkie. There’s no reason behind Tafa’s departure at the moment. Tanner Boser will step in to face Pessoa next week.
Boser is fresh off a KO win over Philipe Lins at UFC on ESPN 12. Other than his draw against Zaur Gadzhibabayev during his time in M-1 Challenge, the heavyweight has managed to win three out of his last five fights, notably beating Daniel Spitz (via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN 6) in his UFC debut. Boser’s professional record currently stands at 18 wins, 6 losses, and 1 no contest.
Pessoa rebounded from his debut loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC Fight Night 156 by getting a win over Jeff Hughes at UFC Fight Night 162. Pessoa’s loss to Gane snapped a strong nine-fight winning streak that saw him beat top names in Legacy Fighting Alliance, Shooto Brazil, and New Corpore Extreme. His professional record currently stands at 10 wins and 1 loss.
