Tomorrow, newly crowned UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya will face one of the toughest pound-for-pound challengers in the division, Yoel Romero.

Since 2014, Robert Whittaker rose up the ranks and kicked ass in the 185-pound division by defeating fighters such as Brad Tavares, Derek Brunson, and Ronaldo Souza. On July 8, 2017, Whittaker finally climbed the top of the mountain by winning the UFC Middleweight Championship; however, that all ended on October 6, 2019, as Adesanya pulled off the big win and took his rightful top spot in the middleweight division.

Now, the champion will have to face another tall task, as Yoel Romero looks to do what Robert Whittaker and 17 other men couldn’t do, beat Israel Adesanya. Before the two fighters square off against one another, the UFC countdown special follows both challenger and champion and focuses on their physical and mental preparation for the big fight.
