At UFC Fight Night Shenzhen, Zhang Weili made history by becoming the first-ever Asian fighter to win a championship in the UFC.
Her win over Jessica Andrade was a combination of hard work and evolving after every fight. Believe it or not, Weili started out professionally with a unanimous decision loss; however, the 30-year-old learned from her mistake and has since gone on to win every fight contested in the octagon.
While Weili is on a strong 19-fight winning streak, Joanna Jędrzejczyk is no slouch inside of the octagon. The former UFC Strawweight Champion has suffered some minor setbacks since losing the belt to Rose Namajunas at UFC 217; however, Jędrzejczyk’s title reign was nothing more than a dominant display of skill and technical mastery in MMA, with the 32-year-old successfully defending her belt five times.
Now, two of the biggest strawweights in the company’s history are set to collide on March 7, 2020. The UFC countdown special follows both challenger and champion and focuses on their physical and mental preparation for the big fight.
