UFC 251 is a massive success.
The pay-per-view that featured UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman defeating Jorge Masvidal in the main event, UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski getting the split decision win over Max Holloway, and Petr Yan winning the vacant UFC Bantamweight title by beating Jose Aldo has reportedly brought in 1.3 million buys, according to a report from The Athletic.
Should this number be accurate then it will be the biggest pay-per-view buy in 2020. Thus far, UFC 246 – which was headlined with Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone – holds the honor with 1.0 million buys thus far.
UFC 249 comes in second with 700,000 buys, as the stacked pay-per-view featured Justin Gaethje beating Tony Ferguson for the UFC Interim Lightweight Championship, and Henry Cejudo successfully defending the UFC Bantamweight title against a returning Dominick Cruz.
The next pay-per-view on August 15 is expected to do big numbers as well. The show is headlined with the third fight between Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight title. Other bouts include Frankie Edgar vs. Pedro Munhoz and Sean O’Malley vs. Marlon Vera.
