There's been talk of having MMA fighter Conor McGregor go head to head in a super fight with boxer Floyd Mayweather for some time now, but the huge amount of money demanded by both parties has slowed things down. However, UFC President Dana White has now made it clear that it is going to happen and sooner than expected too!
Apparently, it could happen at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on June 10th and White is looking to put up as much as $41 million to make this bout a reality.
"I do think it’s going to happen," he said when asked about the chances of the fight taking place during a recent talk show appearance. "I think it’s going to be a tough deal, there’s obviously a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people so that always makes it tougher. On the flipside, there’s so much money involved, I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen."
It's an exciting prospect, but one which is complicated by regulations relating to a UFC fighter squaring off with a boxer like this. It's hard to say who could emerge victorious here, but you have to believe Mayweather has the advantage, especially if this does indeed end up being a boxing match. We'll just have to wait and see, but expect more to be revealed soon.
