A big flyweight bout is scheduled for the final UFC Fight Night of 2025.
Brandon Royval vs. Manel Kape has been officially set as the main event.
For Royval, he’s hoping to get back into the win column as the flyweight is fresh off his loss against Joshua Van at UFC 317. Royval was able to get some momentum going following his UFC Flyweight title loss to Alexandre Pantoja with impressive wins over Brandon Moreno (via split decision at UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs. Royval 2) and Tatsuro Taira (via split decision at UFC Fight Night: Royval vs. Taira) and he’s had more wins than losses in his last six fights.
Royval has won six of his UFC fights via submission and two via knockout. Currently, Royval is ranked at number three within the division. His professional record stands at 17 wins and 8 losses.
Manel Kape is coming in strong thanks to his two-fight winning streak. His wins over Bruno Gustavo da Silva (at UFC on ESPN: Covington vs. Buckley) and Asu Almabayev (at UFC Fight Night: Kape vs. Almabayev) came via TKO. Kape looked to be on the verge of his release in 2021 as he suffered two losses in his first two UFC fights.
But he’s managed to bounce back thanks to his KO win over Ode' Osbourne, and he’s only suffered one loss since that big win. Kape has won four of his bouts via KO. Should Kape beat Royval, this will be the biggest win of his UFC career so far. Kape is currently ranked at number seven within the division. His professional record stands at 21 wins and 7 losses.
This is the third time that these two have scheduled a fight. Previously, the flyweights were planned for March, but Royval had to withdraw due to injury. They tried again at UFC 317, but Kape backed out due to injury this time. This fight could have title implications. At the moment, this is the only bout confirmed for the final UFC Fight Night. UFC Vegas 112 takes place Dec. 12 at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Hopefully, these two flyweights will finally be able to meet as it's an important fight that impacts the future of the division.
