While UFC President Dana White said very encouraging and supportive words regarding Rousey’s debut in the WWE, UFC Women’s Featherweight champion and rival of Rousey, Cris Cyborg, took some shots at the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champ.
“I believe that she will be happy in WWE, and it’s completely different from the reality of MMA,” Cyborg told MMA Fighting. “For an example, wins and losses are decided before the shows.”
A potential fight between Cyborg and Rousey was strongly considered for years, but plans changed when Rousey lost her title to Holy Holm. That fight was put to rest when Rousey returned, only to lose in 48 seconds to Amanda Nunes. Rousey didn't seem interested in returning to the octagon since then.
Cyborg also addressed Rousey not wanting to discuss her loses against Holm and Nunes. “I think it’s normal,” Cyborg said of Rousey not talking about her last UFC fights. “In reality, we can only talk about things that we already overcame in our minds. She hasn’t overcome her MMA losses yet, even in another stage of her career. Sometimes people need professional help to get over it.”
