Giga Chikaze wants to make Edson Barboza his next victim.
The featherweight is coming off his third consecutive win at UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris and Chikaze made it clear that he was tired of facing replacements and wanted to exchange fists with a name opponent.
Enter Edson Barboza, who’s still pissed over his split decision loss against Dan Ige at the same event Chikaze competed at; Barboza has beaten name fighters such as Ross Pearson (via split decision at UFC 134), Anthony Pettis (via unanimous decision at UFC 197), and Dan Hooker (via TKO at UFC on Fox 31).
The featherweight is currently in the midst of a three-fight losing streak, starting with Justin Gaethje at UFC on ESPN 2, Paul Felder at UFC 242, and of course, Dan Ige last weekend. Barboza was demanding that the UFC give him his bonus for “winning” his fight against Ige, along with his contract to fight in July and Chikaze issued out the challenge:
Thus far, the MMA veteran has yet to respond to Chikaze’s challenge, though Barboza has continued expressing his frustration over the split decision loss against Ige.
