Apologizing for his disappointing UFC debut in which he was
disqualified for an illegal knee to Allen Crowder, Greg Hardy
vowed to learn from his mistake. Squaring off against Dmitrii Smoliakov at UFC Fight Night 150 in Fort Lauderdale, Hardy made good on that promise.
The disgraced former NFL defensive end made quick work of Smoliakov, scoring a first-round knockout and earning his first in under the UFC banner. Hardy was much more cool and collected in his approach, easily defending three takedown attempts by his former training partner.
Two mintues into the first round, Hardy rocked Smoliakov, sending him to crumbling to the mat. Smoliakov attempted to cover up as Hardy reigned down hammerfists before the ref ultimately called it. Check out the impressive finish below.
"Feels amazing. Thank you, Florida. I moved here. Thank you ATT. Thank you for my chance, I love y'all. It felt amazing," Hardy said after the fight.
"I knew my purpose, I executed, trusted my coaching. Wanted to make sure it wasn't the same as last time, no gas out."
It was an impressive win for Hardy, who now has a professional MMA record of 4-1, but it's unclear what will be next for him.
