Last night, Volkan was arrested and charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm or disability in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. According to his arrest record, he was being held in the Broward County jail pending a bond hearing Sunday morning. By mid morning, his arrest record was updated to reflect that he was being held on a $10,000 bond.

The state of Florida’s statute for Oezdemir’s charge says a person commits aggravated battery if he “intentionally or knowingly causes great bodily harm, permanent disability, or permanent disfigurement.” No other details regarding this are avaliable at this moment.

The news comes on the heels of Oezdemir finalizing a title fight against Daniel Cormier. The Lightweight Heavyweight fighter has been on a hot streak since he signed with the UFC earlier this year as he's won all three of his UFC fights, including his last two bouts ending in a knockout. At the moment, its unclear how this will affect Oezdemir as the UFC has yet to give an official statement. We'll keep you updated as the story continues.
