According to sources at MMA Fighting, there was an altercation at Combate Americas 20: Mexico vs. USA in Sacramento, Calif., between UFC fighters Nate Diaz and Clay Guida. One source says Guida ended up bloody.
According to tweets from TUF 27 contestant Tyler Diamond, Diaz pushed his teammate at last night’s Combate Americas event. Diamond tried to stop things from escalating and got in between both Diaz and Guida, that’s when Diamond found himself on the receiving end of a slap from Diaz.
Diaz attended Combate Americas event on Friday night to support his teammate Chris Avila, who lost a decision to Horacio Gutierrez. Diamond and Guida were there to support their Team Alpha Male teammate Anthony Avila who won a decision over Jose Luis Verdugo. Combate Americas officials have stated that they’re currently looking into the altercation, and the promotion will be launching an investigation on the matter.
John Fosco, Clay Guida’s manager, told MMA Fighting that Diaz shoved Guida from behind and Guida split his lip open on a metal guard rail before Diaz and his team swarmed Guida and Diamond. Guida intends to pursue the matter with local police, Fosco said.
A representative for Diaz declined to comment.
Guida owns a UFC win over Diaz in 2009 and has been calling him out for a fight in the Octagon for months.
