Kevin Lee has suffered another major injury.
Back in March at UFC Fight Night 170, the lightweight fought Charles Oliveira and ended up suffering a knee injury that forced him to remain on the sidelines ever since. Unfortunately, while Lee was rehabbing his left knee, the 27-year-old suffered a torn ACL in his right knee.
Lee revealed the devastating news himself on Instagram video, but the UFC fighter remained positive despite the latest injury (Transcript courtesy of MMA Junkie):
“I hurt it while trying to recover from this one. But honestly, I’m not that discouraged about it. I feel like I’ve been on this path for a long-ass time, like last 10 years, and I’ve seen all of this (expletive) happening. I didn’t know I was going to have it, but I knew for sure it was going to happen. I guess God wants me to have two strong knees. So when I come back, I’m going to (expletive) somebody up. I feel like I’m on the right path.”
At this moment, there’s no word on how long Lee will be out of action. However, based off an interview with MMA Junkie earlier this year, it didn’t sound like Lee was planning to return to the octagon anytime soon:
“I think lightweight’s still my home,” he said. “I’ve just got to fine-tune some things. But I’m going to take a long time. I kind of rushed into this fight. It’ll probably be a good minute before you see me again. I think I’ve got to evaluate some things. I felt like my camp was great. My coaches told me all the right things to do. I abandoned it – it’s all on me on this one. So it’s going to be maybe a few years or so.”
