UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping has more to worry about than just his fight with UFC Welterweight Champion Georges ST-Pierre at UFC 217, as a lawsuit has been filed regarding an incident that happened back in July.
According to TMZ, Bisping went crazy on Antonio Georgakopoulos for "taking his weights" without asking during a workout back in July. Antonio claims that Bisping insulted him countless of times after that moment, including calling him a "little punk" and a "idiot". After the verbal tirade, he then claims that Bisping suddenly grabbed him by the throat and began to squeeze, cutting off oxygen. Luckily, another weight lifter interefered just as Antonio was about to lose consciousness.
However, it didn't stop there as Bisping was still looking for a fight, allegedly he screamed out, "Let's take this outside". According to Antonio, The Anaheim PD was called to the gym and Bisping was arrested for assault and battery. However, TMZ was told by the PD that Bisping was not arrested and that the cops only took a report and handed the case over to the City of Attorney's Office. It was ultimately determined that there was not enough evidence to proceed with criminal chrages against Mr. Bisping.
Antonio claims to be tramatized after the event, saying that he's had to see doctors for his injuries and suffers from nightmares and anxiety due to the attack.
Antonio is suing for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and more. There has been no word from Michael Bisping or his camp just yet, but we'll keep you updated on this story as it continues.
