Jamahal Hill wasn't perfect in his light heavyweight bout against Darko Stosic — he admitted as much following the fight — but the Contender Series alum fought with determination on Saturday night, and he came away with a three-round unanimous decision win over the Serbian.
Hill had a solid, active first round, but ate a couple of hard left hooks and was taken down late by Stosic. He picked up the pace in the second. Stosic appeared to be having some trouble with his nose from a shot taken in the previous frame, but he did score another takedown just before the round ended. While Hill was the more active fighter in the two rounds, the two late takedowns by Stosic kept him alive on the scorecards heading into the final round.
Stosic scored a takedown to start the third round and landed a few strikes, but Hill rose to his feet and kept his distance with long-range striking. Stosic did score a few more takedowns in the round, but was unable to follow up with much offensively. Ultimately, it was too little for the veteran who fell to Hill by unanimous decision, 29-27 across the board.
