Max Griffin has been competing under the UFC banner for three-plus years and the welterweight will continue fighting for the company in the foreseeable future. The UFC fighter has signed a five-fight contract with the company, with his looking to be at UFC Fight Night Sacramento:
“There’s only two fights that have been announced,” Griffin told
MMA Junkie.
“We have a sitdown with (UFC matchmaker) Sean Shelby this week to talk him into letting me fight. I’ve been wanting to fight at home for a long time, and it’s perfect timing.”
The fighter’s professional record is currently 15-6, with a status of 3 wins and 4 losses under the UFC banner. His last bout against Zelim Imadaev resulted in a decision win for the California native. Griffin would like to face a big name opponent in Sacramento, but is up for anything, as long as it happens at UFC Fight Night Sacramento:
“Just good guys,” he said.
“I feel like the guys I’ve been fighting are some of the toughest guys the UFC has. Straight up as far as toughness and endurance. The guys can’t all be this tough. I’m looking forward to someone good. They like it when you win those pay-per-view fights. You usually get a good push after you’re victorious on pay-per-view. I’m anticipating something big.”
UFC Fight Night Sacramento takes place on Saturday, July 13 from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California with no main event announced at this time.
