Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is looking to make another run at the championship belt. He made his case stronger on Saturday night at UFC Fight Night in Wichita, Kansas when he defeated Derrick Lewis.
Entering the night with two straight wins, Junior dos Santos made it three in a row with a TKO in the second round. Both dos Santos and Lewis traded some heavy shots early on, but it was dos Santos who landed the devasting blow.
Late in the first round, dos Santos connected with a powerful kick to the midsection of Lewis, who appeared hurt as he doubled over and grimaced in obvious pain. Lewis fought through the rest of the round and into the second, but it was clear he was hurting. Midway through the second, dos Santos landed a hard right hand that sent Lewis stumbling to the canvas. Dos Santos landed a series of blows before the referee stopped the fight.

With the win, dos Santos (21-5) is now third on the list of most UFC wins in the heavyweight division with 15. He trails Andrei Arlovski and Frank Mir, both with 16 each. More importantly, Junior dos Santos has put himself back in the conversation for a possible title bout with Daniel Cormier. This was Derrick Lewis's first time fighting since his submission loss to Cormier back at UFC 230 in November.
