A new light heavyweight bout has been added to the UFC 251 pay-per-view as Volkan Oezdemir will take on Jiri Prochazka.
Oezdemir is coming into the contest with some solid momentum as the light heavyweight is currently in the midst of a two-fight winning streak by beating Ilir Latifi (via KO at UFC Fight Night 156) and Aleksandar Rakić (via split decision at UFC Fight Night 165). The 30-year-old managed to bounce back from a three-fight losing streak against Daniel Cormier (via TKO at UFC 220), Anthony Smith (via submission at UFC Fight Night 138), and Dominick Reyes (via split decision at UFC Fight Night 147). Oezdemir’s professional record currently stands at 17 wins and 4 losses.
Making his UFC debut, Prochazka enters the promotion currently on a ten-fight winning streak, with some of those wins coming over top tier fighters such as former UFC star C.B. Dollaway and former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion and Rizin Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion Muhammed Lawal. Prochazka mainly competed in Rizin and even captured the Light Heavyweight title before signing with the UFC. His professional record currently stands at 26 wins, 3 losses, and 1 no contest.
UFC 251 takes place on Saturday, July 11 with a location and main event set to be announced and soon.
