The past several weeks have been difficult for Walt Harris, as his stepdaughter, Aniah Blanchard, was reported missing by the fighter and his family.
In a statement from the Auburn police, evidence found inside Blanchard’s abandoned vehicle strongly indicated foul play. Police believe that Blanchard could have been with an unidentified male.
There’s been an out pouring of support from everyone in the MMA community including Dana White, and UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, with the total of $80,000+ in reward for information leading to Blanchard’s safe return.
As you can imagine, Harris’ fight has been the last thing on his mind since this whole ordeal began and now, it’s been confirmed that his heavyweight bout against Alistair Overeem at UFC Fight Night Washington D.C. is off, according to
MMA Junkie.
As of this writing, there’s no word on whether officials are searching for another opponent to fight Overeem, as the heavyweight bout was scheduled to main event the fight night show.
