A new women’s strawweight contest is set for the UFC Fight Night card on May 23 as Mackenzie Dern will take on Hannah Cifers.

Dern came into the promotion hot with an undefeated record and managed to continue racking up wins by besting Ashley Yoder (via split decision at UFC 222) and Amanda Cooper (via submission at UFC 224). However, the 27-year-old suffered her first loss inside the octagon at UFC Fight Night 161 against Amanda Ribas via unanimous decision. Despite the recent setback, Dern still has a solid record of 7 wins and 1 loss.

Cifers is hoping to rebound from her loss against Angela Hill at UFC Fight Night 166; Prior to the TKO loss, the North Carolina native had a nice two-fight winning streak going in, besting Polyana Viana (via split decision at UFC 235) and Jodie Esquibel (via unanimous decision at UFC 241). Since her debut in 2018, Cifers has amassed a record of 2 wins and 2 losses within the UFC, and a total record of 10 wins and 4 losses overall.

The UFC Fight Night event on May 23 takes place on Saturday, May 23 with a location and main event to be announced very soon.
