There are an awful lot of rumours floating around in regards to Brock Lesnar's possible UFC return but a new report points to it taking place sooner rather than later. Following his win at UFC 200 (which later became a No Contest due to a failed drug test), most pundits assumed that The Beast's retirement would stick but the Octagon is clearly calling out to him again.
That's what Sports Illustrated is saying anyway as the site claims that Lesnar's UFC return is "imminent" and that it's going to have an impact on how his match at SummerSlam plays out.
SI.com has learned that Lesnar’s return to the UFC is imminent, and he will fight Jones as well as fulfill his WWE obligations at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 34. This all affects the upcoming SummerSlam, as the likelihood that Lesnar keeps the WWE Universal championship, or takes any punishing moves, is all but dimmed, which is another reason he will be hidden in this Fatal 4-Way with Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns, and Samoa Joe.
Chances are Lesnar will be protected at SummerSlam and taken out of the match quite quickly with whoever's responsible for that then becoming his next opponent at the Royal Rumble. However, with that event taking place on January 28th, you have to believe this fight with Jon Jones will happen before then and that's got to mean Lesnar is already back in the USADA drug testing pool.
It seems we're stuck just waiting and seeing and it's likely that nothing official will be announced until after SummerSlam (unless WWE wants to bring more eyes to the PPV by getting a rub from that news dropping before then). How cool would it be for Lesnar to carry the WWE Universal Championship into his next UFC fight? Stranger things have happened...
