UFC Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier is ready to fight Brock Lesnar. “The Beast Incarante” dropped the WWE Universal championship back at WrestleMania 35 this past Sunday to Seth Rollins and now, speculation is that Lesnar will go into negotiation mode with UFC and WWE.
It was originally reported by ESPN's Ariel Helwani last week that the
UFC was planning for Lesnar and Cormier to fight in August, though the match-up wasn’t set in stone. DC himself has stated previously that he wants to face the former UFC Heavyweight champion, but isn’t going to continue playing the waiting game when it comes to Brock Lesnar:
“Dana, get on the phone right now,” Cormier said to TMZ Sports (via
MMA Fighting).
“If you haven’t called him yet, do it today. What are you waiting for? Let’s get this shit on the books. Let’s get this on the books.”
Lesnar and DC had a brief confrontation at UFC 226 after Cormier defeated Stipe Miocic to win the heavyweight title, but nothing has come out of that moment since. Cormier is extremely interested in fighting the UFC Heavyweight, noting that everyone wants to fight Brock Lesnar:
“It’s the fight I want,” Cormier said.
“I think everybody wants to fight Brock. We all want to fight Brock, so ... that’s the fight. That’s the fight that needs to happen. He’s a former UFC champ, All-American in college, the guy is very, very deserving of a fight and he’s gonna get it. Hopefully.”
